Graphics Production
Slicing your files using Photoshop
You will be using the slice and slice select tool in Photoshop or Fireworks to slice your design into parts.
Double click on the slices to name them.
Name them something that makes sense. Example for a menu item: nav_about
These images will then be added to your html in Dreamweaver.
In photoshop when you Save for Web, this is where you will optimize your graphics, jpgs for photography, gradations or shadows; gifs for graphic menu items, logos, etc; png 24 for images with transparency.
Select each slice and select your settings.
After you save out any graphic menu items and you have hover states for these items, you must rename the slices such as - nav_about_o. These slices then need to be saved out again.
